Invalidating the invalidators: Reversing the harm of abusive mental health professionals

There are those who have psychology degrees who have been invalidating DID Systems. Here’s what I/we propose:

We stop giving them credibility and expose them for what they are. Lacking a comprehension they cannot own. The fact that they are enforcing white supremacy cis-hetero ableist patriarchal hegemony by thinking they carry the right to say someone exists or does not exist and that they have a right to debate our existence. They do not.

Their “debates” on DID existence are invalid. They don't have the power to do that. We are sovereign, we exist, and our existence is not predicated on abuse of power, which is what psychologists, and all forms of the mental health field are doing is abusing their power to try to suppress their fears of us.

They fear what they do not understand and therefore they want to villainize, suppress and ignore us. This is based on white supremacy ideals: the minority is not human therefore we can do what we want even go as far to gaslight and enforce their lack of existence instead of realizing just how wrong they are. But a hegemony is not based on self responsibility, it is based on hatred. You cannot stand in the dismissal of someone's existence and keep them from care, without hatred and disdain.

Own your ineptitude instead of projecting it onto DID Systems. Own your ignorance of and prejudice against DID. If you humbled yourself you could learn who we are and how to support us. But those of you in the mental health field who seek for ways and avenues to invalidate our existence

These “Mental health professionals”, I put that in quotations because they are neither supporting mental health nor are they professionals, are invalid.

Their capacity needs to be debated NOT our existence. A hegemony does not want to concede, nor will these therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists who abuse their power and instead of confronting their inability to understand DID they place their egos above our safety and care.

Again, their capacity is up for questioning, not our existence.

How ignorant these people are to stand in front of our existence and claim “there aren't many of us”. First, this is white supremacy dismissal of a minority. Secondly, there are more of us than are recognized because of their very abuse of power and dangerous attachment to sticking to outdated mindset and inability to grow.

These egoists in mental health professional clothing, perpetuate a cycle by their abusive ignorance and denial of DID which keeps DID Systems misdiagnosed, unseen, and under counted. These unprofessionals (taking creative license there) as I'm going to call them, hiding in the mental health field sit on their laurels and further more weaponize them against a marginalized community. They disrupt the stream of care for DID Systems and then blame us for it by gaslighting us and telling us we do not exist. Do not tell me as a mental health professional you do not know what gaslighting is. It must have been part of that in depth degree you are so hyped up to use to invalidate, that degree you were required to get to be given your title(s). Which makes these actions even more insidious since you have to professional tools to subdue someone psychologically.

So, we take our power back. We do not support these egoists in therapeutic cloaking.

Instead, we invalidate them and validate ourselves and stand in the truth of our sovereignty and the reality that we are right here.  No one gets to gaslight you into believing you don't exist. We hope to show you just how warped that is for someone to say and do and how abusive that is and you don't deserve to be abused. As DID Systems the very nature of our existence is born on invalidation and gaslighting amongst other extensive and extreme forms of prolonged abuse. Most of our harm came from caregivers. Therefore this abuse from people who are supposed to be caregivers in the mental health industry can feel familiar. And we are taught to validate abusive caregivers as that's what most of us know. Fuck that.

This further shows these unprofessionals lacking, as mental health professionals should be equipped with trauma informed care training. If this is the case, they are actively choosing to disregard how traumatic the impact would be on a DID System, who we are all survivors of extreme trauma that's what made us, to then invalidate our existence. This goes past negligence and into consciously abusing and feeling entitled to. I've written on this in the past, who are you when society supports your ignorance and fuels your entitlement to dehumanize and dismiss? This is the poison of the majority when it is divorced of compassion and empathy and self sight. All of which are foundations of the mental health profession, all of which these unprofessionals are violating while claiming the title(s) of.

Our goal is to support Systems grounding in the reality that you exist and it's not on you to caretake or validate anyone- and I do mean anyone- who believes they have a right to debate your existence.

No.

Invalidate the invalidators. We break the cycle here of letting anyone invalidate our existence ever again.

Abuse of authority is not authority, it is domination. And we don't do that here.

What we can do to take our power back is grow together as a community and we share amongst ourselves the rare actual mental health professionals that do have and continue to expand their capacity to understand us as systems. We stand and validate those who fight against the white supremacy cis-heteropatriarchal ableist system that enforces these blocks to getting the care and support we need.

To all of you DID Systems who have been abused by aforementioned unprofessionals hiding in the mental health field, we hear you and we've been there too. We hate that you all were put through that, that you trusted because these people were hiding in the mental heath field and they abused you instead of supported you. That they dehumanized you (speaking in Outerworld terminology, not to diminish who you are in Innerworld) and felt entitled to because a multitude of other unprofessionals paved the way for their entitlement to degrade and dismiss you. They are invalid and in a just world, there would be appropriate ramifications for how they harmed you. But since Justice is broken, the most powerful justice we can have is standing in our sovereignty and invalidating the invalidators and uniting support each other.

If you've come to a place that because of the abuse of power of those parading as mental health professionals, that you're done with therapy, I hear you and respect you. So many DID Systems have been harmed and invalidated by these charlatans that some Systems have decided it's safer to not seek a “professional”. That's valid too. Only you know what's best for your system. And this is where healthy connections can help Systems flourish. Healthy connections with DID Systems, all plurals and singlets  can support healing in lieu of the mental health field. Therapy is possible in many ways that all don't lead to the standard route of care. Art, nature, self soothing tools, community, hermit mode, gardening, video games, there are so many ways for those who have said no more to risking their safety as it's become a gamble to walk into a mental health professionals room. To take a seat with the most vulnerable trust a person can, only to find oneself in the hands of an egoist or even at times a sadist. The risk is heavy for many Systems and that's valid and needs to be honored, not pushed.

For those of us who are choosing to continue, or coming back as some of us took a break for years, we can share with each other what we did to vet our therapist.

We are going through personal hardships right now, but when they pass, we will be coming back stronger.

We are announcing that we will be starting a Non-profit for DID Systems. No DID System should be left to suffer how we and countless others have and we want to do all in our power to educate society and to create support for DID Systems. We want to make the world safer for DID Systems who already exist and support an end to our creation. We are professional Speakers and will be returning to that as soon as we are able. This process will take time and will need to be after we get on our feet, and we felt it important to start the conversation and create connections of those who are authentically committed to supporting this cause.

Share this article with as many people as you can to get the word out there: We're taking our power back, invalidate the invalidators.

If you are in the mental health field, share this article with as many mental health professionals as you can and start collecting the real mental health professionals and help us weed out the rest. Our System has been lucky enough to find amazing therapists and that took years and abuse. We hope there are other therapists out there as amazing as ours and we are putting a call out to them to come forward and unite and set a standard in the mental health field. And we are not talking about those who push fusing, it's ableist to tell a DID System we are not “healed” or healthy until we can act like a singlet- non plural person- what most of you are doing is pushing parts dormant who may pop up again later distressed. We are need therapists who understand we are a plural existence, respect that and support the system working as a team. Not try to force us to be what trauma took from us, we will never be singlets. Even if the intentions are good they are still based on trying to make us exist like you- we don't and that's not helping. It's actually hurting systems and keeping Systems from regulating with each other as alters in a system.

Systems deserve safety, care and respect. We are committed to seeing a change in this. We are also invested in supporting system self care and system work. We have some projects we will be working on to support this.

We are grateful to all of the Systems we've met that have supported our journey with their kindness and care. And to the singlets who are respectful and who cares to ask questions and learn. Together we can make a difference in DID Systems feeling safe, starting with invalidating the invalidators. Maybe one day they will wake up, take responsibility and be a part of the shift too. While we are done holding our breath for it, the door stays open to those who grow.

 We Rise, We Rise Together.
